January 5, 2008: Two students
from our studio qualify for the Texas All-State Bands! The
Area/All-State qualification round is very competitive and consists
of students from
San Antonio, Houston, and Austin Regions. Four students from our studio
competed at Judson High School for the Area/ All-State tryouts. Congratulations
to the students from our studio who placed first and
fourth to
qualify for the 5A All-State Band (only five are selected). This year,
four of the top five flute students who made
the All-State Band
were from the San Antonio area.
All four of our students placed in the top 12 of 23 students competing. Congratulations
again to all of the students who competed at this very rigorous competition.
Your many hours of hard work paid off! In February, the students who
qualified for the All-State Band will compete for chair placement at
the TMEA convention
held in San Antonio.
November 27, 2007: At the Region XII
Band and Orchestra Competition, students from our studio placed first, second,
fourth, fifth, tenth, thirteenth and sixteenth chair out of twenty-three
students. The first and second chair
players have qualified for the All-Region Orchestra. Congratulations to
the four students (who finished in the top six) who made the Area Band
and will be competing in January 2008 to qualify for the Texas All-State
5A Band.
November 13, 2007: Since Region XII
is quite large, the 5A High School Band Competition is split in half. One
part took place at Reagan High School and the other part
took place at MacArthur High School. Congratulations
to all of the students who competed. At Reagan High School, the students from our studio placed first, second, fourth and fifth chair (the top nine qualified
for the Region Band). At MacArthur High School,
congratulations to the students from our studio who placed first, sixth, and tenth chair
out of about 50 flute students competing (the top nine qualified
for the Region Band and the top eighteen qualified for the District Band).
November 18, 2006: Region XII
competition was held at Bush Middle School for the West Zone and
Driscoll Middle School for the East Zone. At Bush M.S., congratulations
to the 8th grade students from our studio who placed second and seventh out
of over 90 flute students to qualify for the 7th and 8th Grade Region XII
Middle School Band. At the other competition, congratulations to the 7th
grade student who
made twelfth and has also qualified
for the Region Band.
November 16, 2006: Since Region XII
is quite large, the 5A High School Band Competition is split in half. One
part took place at Lee High School and the other part
took place at MacArthur High School. Congratulations
to all of the students who competed. At Lee High School, the
top students from our studio placed first, second, seventh
and
twelfth chair (the top nine qualified
for the Region Band). At MacArthur High School,
congratulations to the student from our studio who placed third chair
and also qualified for the Region Band. Each location had about
55 flute students competing.
February 15, 2006: The results
are in!!! Congratulations
to the three students from our studio who competed for chair placement
at the TMEA All-State Band and Orchestra Competition. One
student made 22nd chair in the state of Texas and
will sit first chair in the All-State "Concert Band." The
second student finished 7th and
will sit second chair in the "Philharmonic Orchestra." The
third student from our studio placed FIRST out
of the top 35 students in the state of Texas! This student
will sit first chair in the "Symphony Orchestra."
January 7, 2006: Three students
